How to Unlock the Door

  1. Touch and hold the black panel above the door handle until the keypad lights up.
  2. Enter your 4-digit door code, then press #.
  3. When you hear "Aberto" (Portuguese for "Open"), press the door handle down to enter.

If the keypad turns off before you finish, simply touch the black panel again and re-enter your code. Doorlock

Please be VEEERY QUIET!!! from 10:00 in the evening to 7:00 in the morning.

If you leave very early, pack your bag in the evening. Dont point headlamps in people's faces. And please generally ... don't snore! ... if you can help it ;-)

Hairdryer 🌬️

We have hairdryers in the bathroom areas for drying your hair... NOT your shoes.

Wet Shoe drying 🥾

In the downstairs shower area we have a drying rack that can be used for wet shoes. With a fan and a dehumidifyer on location, your shoes will dry fine over night.

If you bring newspaper to stuff inside the shoes - even better.

🧺 Laundry

3,- Washing 5kg
3,- Drying 5kg

You can use our two washing machines (€3 washing 5kg) and one tumble dryer (€3 drying 5kg). Payment can be in coins into a box by the machines, or at reception.

You find them out to the back and up to the right. Follow the signs 👀 The washing machines are 2 machines on the bottom. The dryer is one machine on the top.

Washing lines are further up in the garden, and on most days, drying is quicker outside than in the dryer.

How to do the drying

🍳 Kitchen

A shared, fully equipped kitchen is available for all guests, including stove, oven, microwave, water cooker, cutlery, plates, cups, glasses etc.

Please be aware - There is not much storage space in the fridge for private items.

Breakfast supplies like coffee, tea, bread, cheese, jam etc. are available.
They are provided by an independent source in exchange for a fair contribution into the honesty box.

How to use the Kitchen Appliances

Microwave 🤖

  1. OPEN THE DOOR Pull the handle to open.
  2. PUT FOOD INSIDE Use a microwave-safe dish. Close the door.
  3. RESET Press the CANCEL button to reset previous settings.
  4. SET TIME Turn the knob to set the cooking time. The display shows minutes and seconds.
  5. START Press START to begin. The microwave will start.
  6. WHEN DONE You will hear a beep. Open the door and carefully take the food out.

Dry or clean the inside if necessary after use.

Do not use metal containers or foil.

Coffee Maker ☕️

Only make as much as you will drink! Thank you. :-)

  1. WATER - Fill the water tank with cold water. Only use the amount you will drink.

  2. COFFEE - Place a paper filter in the filter basket. Add ground coffee.

  3. COFFEE POT - Place the coffee pot underneath the filter basket.

  4. START / STOP - Press the ON/OFF button TWICE to switch the coffee maker on or off.

We recommend:

☕ Small cup: 1–2 teaspoons of ground coffee

☕☕ Large cup: 2–3 teaspoons of ground coffee

☕ Enjoy your coffee!

How do use the Coffeemaker

Induction Stove 🍳

  1. Place the pan in the centre of the cooking zone.

  2. Switch on - Press and hold the ON/OFF button.

  3. Select the cooking zone - Touch the cooking zone that has the pan.

  4. Adjust the power - Use the – or + buttons to decrease or increase the heat.

  5. Switch off - Reduce the power to 0, or press and hold the ON/OFF button.

Hot Zone 3 – Top right

Hot Zone 4 – Bottom right

Child Lock – Press and hold for 4 seconds to unlock.

Please note: The symbol "H" indicates that the cooking zone is still hot.

If no pot is detected, the cooking zone will not heat.

Pacemaker Safety - Induction hobs use electromagnetic fields. They are safe for most people, but if you have a pacemaker or another implanted medical device, keep at least 30 cm away and consult your doctor if unsure.

Electric Oven 🍕

  1. Select a function - Use the left-hand knob.

  2. Set the temperature - Use the right-hand knob.

  3. Cook/bake your food

  4. Turn the oven off - Turn the function selector back to OFF (0).

Safety First - Surfaces become hot during use.

Use oven gloves. Keep children away.

How do use the Induction Stove and Electric Oven

Induction Hot Plate 🍳

  1. Place the pan - Place the pan in the centre of the cooking zone.

  2. Switch on - Press and hold the ON/OFF button. The display will light up.

  3. Select the power - Choose either Power or Temperature mode. Adjust the intensity using the – and + buttons.

  4. Cook - The hot plate will begin heating. Cook your food. The cooking zone may remain hot after use.

  5. Switch off - Press the ON/OFF button. The display will turn off and the hot plate will stop heating.

Pacemaker Safety - Induction hot plates generate electromagnetic fields. They are safe for most people, but if you have a pacemaker or another implanted medical device, keep at least 30 cm (12 inches) away and consult your doctor if unsure.

Safety First - The surface becomes hot during use. Do not touch it. Do not place empty cookware on the hot plate. Keep children away.

How do use the Induction Hot Plate

Recycling 🗑️

🌿 We would appreciate it if you could separate your rubbish. 🌿

Although every room has a small waste bin 🗑️, we encourage you to dispose of your rubbish in the RECYCLING BINS:

On the 1st floor corridor you will find bins for:

  • 🩶 GLASS
  • 🟡 PLASTIC & METAL
  • 🔵 PAPER

In the kitchen:

  • 🟢 COMPOST is located next to the kitchen sink.
  • ⚫ GENERAL WASTE is in the kitchen.

If you need to dispose of a larger amount of rubbish, official recycling bins are located 30 metres down the road towards the town centre, separated into Paper, Plastic, Glass and General Waste.

Breakfast not included 🧇

But Breakfast items, like coffee, tea, bread, cheese, jam etc. are available in the kitchen, in exchange for an honest contribution. All food and drinks are provided by an independent source.

Occasional Pilgrim’s Dinner 🍽️

A communal pilgrims' dinner is occasionally prepared by an independent cook (not every day).

If there is pilgrims dinner, you will get notified on the day of your arrival or the day before.

No Air Conditioning

Our air conditioning is

  • open the windows
  • close the blinds when the sun is high
  • fans and earplugs are a nice combination, not just for the heat, but also against mosquitos.

Garden 🌳

Relax in our garden, where you find WASHING LINES and pegs.

⚓ Captain's Note

The washing pegs have begun their annual migration upwards,
giving the Captain excellent opportunities for stair training in the morning...

A footbath up in the garden with Epsom Salt to recover feet and joints.

Massages 🙌

To help relieve aches and pains, we have an on-site massage room and therapist offering a limited number of sessions on many days.

🐕 Dogs

This is a pet-friendly albergue. BUT we want to know ahead of time, when you intend to bring your furry friend.

Also, on most days there are two friendly dogs in the house during the day.

are located in the shower area on the ground floor and in the first-floor bathroom. Loose items in the first aid cabinets can be used up.

BUT ☝️ The GREEN BOXES are NOT for blister care or typical Caminho issues !!!

False Alarm

Fire Alarm but NO Fire

When you hear the alarm, check for fire or smoke everywhere in the house.

IF there is NO FIRE IN THE HOUSE

and the alarm was caused by an overtoasted slice of bread or someone accidentally poking the fire alarm button with their walking pole sticking out of the backpack,

and no host is in the house, who you could inform,

go downstairs and SILENCE the ALARM.

The Fire Alarm Station is behind the WOODEN DOORS by the ENTRANCE.
